Because anyone can create things, a kid can go out into the yard and form a mound of dirt, and a kid next to him can make an elaborate treehouse out of sticks, they both created something but one is valued over the other. Is not a lot of creativity the ability to know what is valued and to be able to create that? Is creativity relative? sluggy x - l agree with some of that, but of course the creativity im talking about is the one that is valued in society, if we could all be labeled creative then what is the use in acknowledging any human trait at all?

There is a difference between creating anything and creating something extraordinary.

That is the stereotype of creativity. Creativity is an energy that cannot be defined or restrained. My opinioon

l think that creativity is such an interesting thing
i think being creative is one thing, but knowing how to USE the creativity is the skill part
what you mention about one thing being more valued than another is also a good point. this happens all the time with art. good point

its a gift, you cant really learn how to be more creative. some people just can think outside of the box more than others.

Wow, this is a really great question. l guess you'd be right in saying that some things that are created are just valued over others and the skill is to know what will be more valued. Very insightful and made me think quite a bit!

nope, creatvity depends on the pearson, it usually comes natural, the kid that made the mound of dirt, probably not as creative as the kid thet made the treehouse outta sticks.

creativity is a skill because you may be able to do something very well like drawing but if you can only recreate existing art then you are wasting that skill, not many people are truly creative so if you can think of something original then that is special

l do not think it is a skill - a skill can be learned. Creativity is an inherent trait some people have - it is the ability to see an object or hear an idea and see and imagine more possibilities and potential for use than would typically be expected. It is ''thinking outside the box'' without prompting and cultivating. It is seeing opportunity where others see limited applications. It is a trait to be valued and coveted. It is a talent and a gift.

l believe creativity is a gift which cannot be improved as much as a skill which can be learned and refined through practice. Can you train yourself to be more creative? Maybe a very little. The rest is the skill to know what to look for and feel. Playing a tune on a guitar is a measure of skill. Writing a tune on guitar is a measure of creativity.

Creativity cannot be taught. You're born with it and it is not relative unless you are comparing it to somebody else's. Creativity is not knowing what is valued but is expressing yourself in your own unique way depending on your personality and who you are.

l agree completely with Sarah Townen Everybody has some creativity, & l do think that some have more than others, or that creativity comes easily to some than others, but l think the real challenge is how u learn to channel & apply ur creativity. l also believe that creativity CAN be taught. Some people r naturally good at playing instruments, others r not-but can be taught. You CAN be inspired to be creative, or be taught to take a creative approach to something, absolutely.
Great question!

Creativity is most certainly a skill. Do not just go become a business-person if you're really creative. You will hate it. Creativity is the ability to visualize something, and then create it. Everything is relative. Being rich and poor is relative. Weight is relative. The kid in your example who created the pile of mud, he had a vision to create a pile of mud, and he created it. Creativity is not creating something valued, but merely creating something.
