All these pictures on DeviantArt look so cool. But how long would it take to learn, and how do l even know how to do it?!
I am alright at drawing on paper, l just wanna make it look cool like in the link l gave =]

well, it depends on your drawing skills, if you're good at drawing manga then you half way there, just get photoshop or a similar program.
But If your drawing sucks, l suggest you improve your skills on paper, before trying something as hard.

A majority use Adobe Photoshop, and it costs $900. But most of them pirate the program, seeing how easy Adobe makes it to crack. There is a free Open Source Alternative called Gimp. It is free and you can read some tutorials to learn.

As the first person said, traditional media is usually first, & then comes the digital media.
l started drawing for fun five years ago, & this is about how far it got me without any professional training:

Generally u need to just practice. Learn to draw from life, get the feel of anatomy & how things relate. l will say it again: Learn to draw from life. Use reference photos so u know how things go. Some artists r born as artists, but the rest of us have to work for it. Look up some decent tutorials, go to all the art classes u can, & always practice, every day!
Once u get to doing digital art, the best programs out there would be something similar to Adobe Photoshop (which is what l use). And if u really want to be able to do digital art, then look into getting a decent Wacom Tablet, so you're not struggling with a mouse.
Either way, have fun with it. Anyone can draw, but it is the people who work at it who can draw well.

well about 80% of the people on deviant art have a photoshop nd let me tell yu they r not cheep also it depends on ur drawing skills but here ae the things l use bucause l can not aford a photoshop sadly
